The nominees for the 93rd Academy Awards ceremony have been announced on Monday, March 15, and some of the names sound quite familiar…

In the “Best Live-Action Short Film” category, we can find The Present by Farah Nabulsi, which won the International Audience Prize in 2020.

White Eye by Tomer Shushan is also nominated in that category. It was present at this year’s Festival in the International Competition.

Genius Loci by Adrien Mérigeau is nominated in the “Best Animated Short Film” category. It won the Special Mention from the National Jury in 2020. Its aesthetics is inspired by the work of the Belgian illustrator Brecht Evens, who will make the Festival poster in 2022.

We’re also very proud of the nomination of Kaouther Ben Hania‘s film The Man Who Sold His Skin in the “Best International Feature” category, the first one in Tunisian history! Kaouther was a member of the International Jury of our festival in 2017.

Finally, the Chinese director Chloé Zhao, whose film Nomadland is nominated in 6 categories, including “Best Picture”, also crossed path with us in 2010 with her short film Daughters.

The ceremony will take place on April 25. In the meantime, congratulations and good luck to everyone!
