For all:
– Practical info is available on this site, and several useful downloads and schedules are also available from the various sections of the Market menu.
– The Market is equipped with free Wi-Fi
– A multimedia room is available to all, with 4 Mac and a printer.
– Informal networking takes place daily at happy hours, drinks and parties.
– Wrap up the day with a drink or a grab to bite with delegates and festival goers at the Electric Palace entertaining chill-out venue, in a marquee, just outside the Short Film Market.

1- You are coming to find some films
Before visiting Clermont-Ferrand:
– Make sure you’ve filled out and send your online accreditation form
– Check out the Market catalogue online on this site, and use the search options to identify films you’d like to see.
– Use your Pro Services account to prepare the list of films you plan to see. Your list will then be directly accessible for you to play the films at the Market videolibrary and on its online extension.
– Download the programme of Market screenings and note down in your agenda those you do not want to miss out. Market screenings are a great opportunity to see the latest productions on offer from distributors or film agencies. You can catch them on the big screen and meet their representatives.
– Take the time to check out the list of Market exhibitors who have a stand, where you will also be able to request films for viewing and meet sales officers.
When you are in Clermont-Ferrand:
– Upon arrival pick up your accreditation at Festival reception desk. Your badge will be given to you, giving you entrance to Festival screenings, and access to the Short Film Market.
– Ask for your copy of the Professional directory from the pigeonholes desk, where you can drop and get messages to and to and from over 2,800 other delegates.
– Go directly to the Short Film Market and book a slot at the videolibrary (bookings have to be made one day in advance, for a maximum of 2 hours).
– Please note that in addition to your own lists of films, selections of shorts from agencies are also accessible for viewing at the videolibrary, as well as films presented by themes, by partners, or in competition.
– Get hold of the paper version of the Market Catalogue where over 6,000 recent titles are referenced.
– Visit the stands where you want to see films or pick up info to make all necessary arrangements and appointments.
– Check out the Festival programme (available on your cell phone) for screenings you want to catch with the audience’s reaction at festival’s venues. Do not leave Clermont-Ferrand without the thrill of an evening session at the Jean Cocteau theatre.
TIP: some stands have a video terminal with their films on their stand, which is great for viewing films in addition to your time at the video library.
After your stay:
– Continue viewing films at the online extension of the videolibrary, where your lists of films and comments will be available, as well as selection of shorts from agencies. Please note that this service is restricted to Pro Services subscribers who used the Market videolibrary 2010.
2 – You are distributing / promoting films
Before visiting Clermont-Ferrand:
– Watch out regularly the list of attending profesionals. Buyers have an aquisition profile that you can click to view on our site, and exhibitors are also designated by a specific icon.
– List out the people you plan to meet or send communications to in the directories of your Pro Services session.
– Prepare your line-up of films at the Market using My Lists in your Pro Services. Then send out your Lists of films to targeted contacts from your directories, inviting them to view your shorts at the Market. Your contacts will then be able to add these List of films in their own account to later access them directly for viewing at the Market.
– Arrange meetings in advance, keeping in mind that the MEDIA Rendez-Vousarea inside the Market will offer you place and time for your business appointments.
– Download the xls file of attending professionals with their pigeonhole numbers and mark out in advance those you want to hand out promo material to (available Jan. 25th).
– Watch the MEDIA Forum videos for presentations of major TV acquisition policies.
When you are in Clermont-Ferrand:
– Ask for your copy of the Professional directory from the pigeonholes desk.
– Hand out your printed or audiovisual promotional material to our volunteer staff who will do the dispatch in the pigonholes of the professionals of your choice.
– Do not miss out the buyers presentations at the MEDIA Forum for the latest updates in aquisition policies.
– Make the most of the MEDIA Rendez-Vous area, Market stands and all Market facilities to meet the people you do business with, establish new contacts, and gather knowledge on current market trends.
– Contact festival programmers to make sure they do not leave Clermont-Ferrand without a copy of your latest films.
TIP: drop messages and DVDs, but never be pushy with TV buyers; they’ll know where to find you.
After your stay:
– Do not forget to look at the names of professionals who watched your films and send follow-up messages when appropriate. This option is only accessible for the films for which you’ve been listed as contact or sales person when they were entered at the Market.
3 – You are a producer, coming on the lookout for talent and projects
Before visiting Clermont-Ferrand:
– Look at the schedule of films in competition to catch interesting screenings
– Mark down the attending professionals who are nationals from countries you work with.
– If you seriously plan to enter coproductions, look at the Book of Projects selected at Euro Connection (open to European producers).
– Look at the list of exhibitors who are coming with a stand where you will be able to collect information on opportunites with key festivals, companies, organisations, funds and resources available in various countries.
– Pay attention to the schedule of Buyers’ presentation at the MEDIA Forum.
When you are in Clermont-Ferrand:
– Ask for your copy of the Professional directory from the pigeonholes desk.
– Drop messages there to people you want to meet, depending on their dates of attendance.
– Visit stands and their representatives from several countries for info on gaining visibility and returns for your current films and for your new projects to take off in the best possible conditions.
– Use the MEDIA Rendez-Vous area to arrange meetings with the filmmakers, industry delegates and other producers you plan to meet.
TIP : be at the Market around 18:00 for networking during happy hours on some stands in the exhibition hall.
After your stay:
– The Pro Services at www.clermont-filmfest.com will help you find the contacts for films and people you’ve seen and met in Clermont-Ferrand.
4 – You are a director, composer, actor…
Before visiting Clermont-Ferrand:
– Make sure you’ve filled out and send your online accreditation form
– Prepare some communication material: business cards, film postcards, portfolio, DVDs (with English/French subtitles), screening schedule, current projects presentations…
– Check out that the contact and film info available for you on our site is correct (changes are made only when coming from the person who entered the film at the Market)
– See the list of Market exhibitors who have a stand, where you will be able to collect precious information on what are the best outlets and who you need to contact in their respective countries to promote your work and talent, and/or find potential collaborators for future projects.
– Consult the list of attending professionals and try and schedule some meetings in advance, that you can book through the MEDIA Rendez-Vous service starting Jan. 25th.
When you are in Clermont-Ferrand:
– Get your copy of the Professional directory from the pigeonholes desk and hand out your promotional material to our volunteer staff who will do the dispatch in the pigonholes of the professionals of your choice.
– Meet other filmmakers at the Festival’s Expresso meetings every morning, 9:30 – 13:30, from Sunday 31 to Saturday 6.
– The Bar des Réalisateurs is open to filmmakers at the Hotel Mercure every evening from 18:00 to 20:00 for networking around a drink.
– Pay a visit to L’Atelier and its live 3D film set and postproduction on display in partnership with top French schools.
– Attend some of the buyers presentations at the MEDIA Forum to get sharper insight into what they are looking for.
TIP: hook up and exchange info with other filmmakers to quickly find your way around. The volunteers staff at the Market will also prove a valuable source of information on what’s going on and where.
