African Perspectives
For the second year, “African Perspectives” opens on to the vast riches of the cinematic world spanning the entire African continent.
After the success of the “Perspectives” get-togethers in 2016, we invite you to explore these films in all their diversity, from Mediterranean shores to the mountains of South Africa, from Ethiopia to Senegal.
The short films in our programmes are a reflection of a continent built on contrasts, Africa in the midst of sweeping changes; they question society and ask us to think about our relationship to a continent that is moving closer to us every day, but that nevertheless still harbors so many fantasies even at the start of the third millennium.
To help get a closer look at these works, their creators and their sometimes strikingly original voices, the Short Film Festival of Clermont-Ferrand is hosting an “African Perspectives” day.
The screening of both programmes will be followed by a question and answer period with the filmmakers on hand.
We invite you to join us at theses African “get-togethers” on Saturday 4 February 2017 in the Louis Lumière room at 6pm (following the two “African Perspectives” screenings at 2pm and 4pm respectively).
The artist Hippolyte’s exhibit Les Enfants du Kinshasa (The Children of Kinshasa) will accompany this programme from Friday 3 February through Saturday 11 February 2017 in the Dolet gallery ar the Crous (see details on p. 19).
