Je Suis Bien Content : Producer’s Carte Blanche
2 programmes
17 films
Etablished in 1996 by Franck Ekinci and Marc Jousset, Je Suis Bien Content (I’m Very Happy) is a production company that specializes in animated films. As winners of the 2016 Producer’s Award for short film, we have the privilege of presenting two Carte Blanche programmes at this year’s Festival.
The award is a recognition of all the hard work and determination we have put into producing short films. Through our dedication, filmmakers have been able to overcome financial hurdles and devote themselves entirely to their work in imagining and experimenting with new methods of narration and filmmaking.
(La chair de ma chère – Calvin Antoine Blandin)
The first of our programs is a panorama that merely samples the domain of French animated short films. Its nince films showcase diversity in both their technical and narrative choices. You’ll find comedy and naturalism, poetry and experimental cinema, 2D and 3D, painting and pixelated images.
It was difficult to make the final selections for this program given the enormous creativity and dynamism that animated short film evince.
(Fêlures – Alexis Ducord and Nicolas Pawlowski)
The second program is made up of Je Suis Bien Content’s films, some older, some more recent, including one young female filmmarker’s first foray into fiction.
In fact, of the eight films in this program, half are first films. This editorial choice reflects our desire to discover new talents and our emphasis on explorarion and innovation.
(La Générale du veau – Franck Guillou)
Be it animation or fiction, short films constitute a genre unto themselves. And in an increasingly unstable world, it is all the more important to develop and preserve spaces of freedom.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to all the film buffs who make this possible.
