Actor, filmmaker, theater director, producer
Lotfi Achour is a film and theater director who splits his time between Paris and Tunis. Having realized over twenty-five projects on different stages – from London to Paris to Tunis to Avignon’s Festival In, among others – he also created an installation for the 2006 Nuit Blanche in Paris celebration.
Achour began his studies at the Sorbonne, then moved on to documentary directing at the Ateliers Varan in Paris. He has made four short films that have won many many awards from Clermont-Ferrand to Tokyo. Coproduced with CANAL+, his most recent film, La Laine sur le dos [Law of Lamb], was selected for the César awards in 2018.
Also in 2016, he filmed his first feature film, Demain dès l’aube [Burning Hope] in Tunisia. The film has been selected for official competition at CINEMED, The Carthage Film Festival (JCC, in 2016), but also at festivals in New York, Durban, Hof, Beirut, Montreal, Oujda, Lausanne, Buenos Aires, Geneva and Paris and has won numerous awards.
