Javier Rebollo was born in Madrid in 1969. In 1996, with Damián Paris and Lola Mayo, he created the Lolita Films company which produces all of his films. He directed various documentaries with Lola Mayo for the program Documentos TV on TVE2.

Many of his short films were selected in Clermont-Ferrand: En medio de ninguna parte (In the Middle of Nowhere) and Hola, desconocido! (Hello, stranger!) in the Spanish Panorama in 2001 ; El equipaje abierto and En camas separadas in international competitions in 2000 and 2003.

Javier Rebollo is a directing professor at ECAM (Escuela de Cinematografía y del Audiovisual de la Comunidad de Madrid). He is currently preparing his fourth feature-length film, La cerillera, muerte y transfiguración de una trabajadora europea.
