Colombian short films are full of promises that the audience will discover in Clermont-Ferrand with 6 programmes of films. In 2008, Como Todo el Mundo, by Colombian director Franco Lolli, won a Grand Prize in Clermont-Ferrand. This marked the beginning of a new era for Colombian cinema, that will gradually start gaining prominence.

The strong support to the development of national cinema in this country will also bear its fruits. In 2014, another short film by a Colombian director, studying in London, wins a Palme d’Or in Cannes. In 2016, for the first time in its history, Colombia has a film nominated for the Oscars, with Embrace of the Serpent, by Ciro Guerra. One of its co-writers, Jacques Toulemonde-Vidal, is another author awarded in Clermont-Ferrand, in 2010, with his short Un Juego de Niños.

Short films have thus played an important part in the rise of Colombian cinema. Our focus will primarily highlight recent films showing the creative talent of a young generation of filmmakers. These films promise to bring strong stories and rich encounters to our audience in Clermont-Ferrand. They also show promise of more future successes for Colombian cinema.
