Jens Assur – The 2013 Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival
Jens Assur is a world-famous Swedish photographer and film director. His work follows several lines. The first one is the socioeconomic evolutions in the world: in Africa is a great country, Jens Assur tries to show a different face of Africa, that of constantly changing countries. With “Supermegacities”, he depicts the effects of migration in today’s biggest cities.
Africa is a great country
Culture and youth are two other lines followed by the artist (This is My Time, This is My Life). Jens Assur also tries to capture society and its movements, more specifically the way Swedish youngsters perceive diversity and racism (Nollracism), and portraits of men and women who prefer to live away from society. The photographer wonders about what happens in a democracy when some people cannot fit in.
Under the Shifting Skies
He directs his film Den Sista hunden i Rwanda (The Last Dog in Rwanda) in 2007 and wins the International Grand Prize of the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival. Killing the Chickens, to Scare the Monkeys was awarded the Special Jury Mention at the 2012 festival, and many other prizes from festivals across Europe.
